Apply a customized set of scheduling preferences by including a specific trigger phrase in your email to Clara.
How Booking Types Work
Booking Types—also known as Cues—allow you to quickly apply a custom set of scheduling preferences by using a specific phrase in your email to Clara.
This is useful when you regularly schedule different types of meetings that require different settings (e.g., recruiting calls, sales demos, or internal syncs).
A Booking Type is made up of two parts:
Trigger (Cue): A word or phrase you include in your email
Action: A set of preferences Clara applies when that phrase is detected
When Clara detects your cue in the body of an email, it will override your default settings for that meeting only.
Creating Effective Triggers
Your trigger phrase is key to making Booking Types work reliably.
Best Practices
Use a unique, easy-to-remember phrase
Keep it to 1–3 words
Make it something unlikely to appear in normal conversation
What to Avoid
Triggers will not work if they:
Contain numbers, emojis, or special characters (@#$%^&*)
Match your name, email address, or email signature
Appear frequently in everyday messages
Attempt to redefine standard terms
Example: using “30 minutes” to mean a 25-minute meeting
Where Triggers Are Detected
Only in the body of your email
Not in:
Email subject lines
Quoted/forwarded text
Participant email addresses
Setting Up a Booking Type

Save your Booking Type
Once created, you can make edits by clicking the cue phrase on the left panel.
Using a Booking Type
To use a Booking Type, include the exact trigger phrase in the body of your email.
Example:
“Clara, please schedule a Recruiting Call with Sarah next week.”
Clara will recognize the phrase “Recruiting Call” and apply the associated settings.

Best Practices
Create Booking Types for repeatable workflows (e.g., Sales calls, Interviews) or for location specific preferences
Use unique, distinct trigger phrases to avoid accidental activation
Test your Booking Type once to ensure it behaves as expected
